Insurtech Australia 2018 – Building Value

Building Real Value in Insurtech with a Venture Capital Partner

Thu., 15 February 2018

As venture capital deal volumes in fintech cool, insurtech represents the new wave of opportunity for the venture capital market. Growth in investments and transactional volumes in the insurtech space is at an all-time high (USD $1.3bn globally across Q2-Q3 2017) with 67% accounted for in Angel, Seed and Series A rounds. APAC is the rising star in global insurtech, now accounting for 20% of global transactions, with the US retaining 59% (Willis Tower Watson).

Envest has emerged as one of the most active and effective investors in innovative insurance businesses in Australia. As such, there is no better Insurtech Australia partner to bring us our February event themed on Insurtech – Building Real Value.

Envest is a private, entrepreneurial, equity investment business investing and supporting insurance businesses to help realise growth potential. Envest is in a unique position; it has a portfolio of start-up and incumbent players – brokers, underwriting agencies and insurance service businesses – and an appreciation for the role that technology plays in these businesses. Envest now backs some of Australia’s most successful and promising insurtechs.

We will use our February forum to discuss with Envest, insurtechs and other panelists the finer details of capital raising through the lens of both the investor and the insurtech, including:
· why Insuretechs use external capital;
· how Insurtechs can get investment ready;
· what investors look for in an Insurtech;
· when is the right time to raise capital; and
· what Insuretech’s should look for in finding the right capital provider.
