Envest appoints new Chief Commercial Officer

Richard Heilig, former Chief Executive Officer of Hollard Commercial Insurance joins the team

Chief Executive Officer of Hollard Commercial Insurance (HCi) and Hollard Board member, Richard Heilig will be leaving Hollard to join private equity investment company Envest.
Heilig has spent more than 20 years of his career to-date in the broader Hollard group, working across almost all areas of the business and playing an instrumental role in the evolution of Hollard from a small challenger business to a significant player in the Australian market.
His move to Envest is a major coup for the mid-market investment player who has interests in 25 businesses, including award-winning InsurTechs Blue Zebra and Claim Central, and a group of 11 insurance brokers operating under the Aviso Group brand.
Managing Director Greg Mullins said Heilig’s appointment came at a critical time in the Envest journey and put the company in a good position to grow its portfolio and interest in the insurance market.
“Richard has been behind some of Hollard’s most successful business ventures, including ANDO and HCi, and the Envest/Hollard joint venture and premium funder Attvest.
“We’ve worked closely together on a number of other businesses in the Envest portfolio that started out as Hollard Partners, so Richard has a very good understanding and appreciation of what we do,” Mr Mullins said.
“In the next 6-12 months Envest will be actively looking to increase our investment in entrepreneurial, future-focused insurance businesses and grow our insurance distribution network. Richard’s experience and commercial acumen will help us achieve this.”
Heilig will take on the newly created role of Chief Commercial Officer for Envest.
Hollard Insurance CEO Richard Enthoven said Richard’s contribution to the business, people and culture had been vast and invaluable.
“He has been an integral member of our Hollard family, and trusted advisor who leaves us on the best of terms. In this Richard will be working closely with a number of Hollard clients which means he will remain a key and valued part of our wider Hollard family”.
Richard Heilig first joined Hollard Group in 1998 and has been credited with leading the integration of the former Calibre Insurance and Hollard Select Brokers to form HCi which has quickly become a key strategic area of Hollard and a business with tremendous growth prospects. Richard has also served on more than a dozen strategic investment boards and as an Executive Director of the Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd.
Richard’s qualifications include an MBA, a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) and he is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.
